March
A delegation from the University of Central Florida visited the Molecular Sciences Research Center of the UPR this week with the purpose of strengthening ties of collaboration that have already been established between the institutions and the Puerto Rican government. Dr. Lopez and Dr. Stelzer (pictured in the far left) were asked to present the ongoing research activities at the #CrystallizationDesignInstitute. #FuturoUPR https://t.co/UQXIUWQ5EO

April
We are excited to announce the latest publication of the Crystallization Design Institute: “Solubility Determination and Correlation of Warfarin Sodium 2-Propanol Solvate in Pure, Binary, and Ternary Solvent Mixtures.” Many hours of hard work went into the development of this article, and we are extremely proud of our alumni Mery Vet’s dedication towards making this article come to be a reality. If you are interested in learning more about this topic, the first 50 e-prints of the article are provided free of charge by the American Chemical Society (ACS) if you are an ACS member at the following address: https://pubs.acs.org/articlesonreq…/AOR-aQAs9KpeeDruxRIen8pm
Otherwise, the article can be accessed following the DOI below: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jced.8b00977. #CrystallizationDesignInstitute |
July
Just in time for the 4th of July celebration we are excited to announce our fourth publication of the Crystallization Design Institute, entitled “In the Context of Polymorphism: Accurate Measurement, and Validation of Solubility Data.” The publication provides guidelines and best practices that will hopefully help other researchers to determine the solubility of polymorphic compounds with a higher degree of accuracy and certainty of the polymorphic form under study. Many hours of hard work went into the development of this scientific article, and we are extremely proud of our alumni undergraduate students Victor, Carmen and Luz for making this article come to be a reality. We also acknowledge the help and support of Krystal Sańchez Garciá, Karina Sanabria, and José R. Hernandez Espinell for their technical assistance. If you are interested in learning more about this topic, the first 50 e-prints of the article are provided free of charge by the American Chemical Society (ACS) if you are an ACS member at the following address:

November
We are proud to announce that the #CrystallizationDesignInstitute has signed an industrial-academic collaboration agreement with MBQ Pharma, Inc., the first biopharmaceutical company started in Puerto Rico emerged from discoveries at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Federico Goodsaid, CEO of MBQ Pharma, Inc. and Dr. Ana Guadalupe, Director of the Molecular Sciences Research Center, Inc. sign the historic contract. This project focuses on the discovery and characterization of crystalline solid forms and contributes to the goal of developing treatments to prevent cancer metastasis in cancer patients. We are very excited to be part of this innovative project. #TeamCDI
